The "Bayou" series is an experiment with material and texture. Creating ephemeral landscapes that seem to go beyond their gulf coast origins. Many connections have been made to environments outside the south, including the Midwest and Northeast, leading to the notion of a "Democratic Landscape". One which allows viewers to associate the imagery to familiar areas of different regions and ecologies. Using the strong horizontal format, a cinematic composition leads the eye through the space but can also engage other senses like touch and hearing.
